Connstruction of a temporary setup in Cubotron started End of 2020.
Marco Cantoni, Barbara Baumann, Stephan Käppeli from SYSTRON AG, Jean-Paul Christinat and his crew, and many others were a great help. Thanks also to Olivier Schneider and Harald Brune (IPHYS) for support.
The floor plan of the south-west wing of the Cubotron ground floor provides space for two LBEM and three DCI electron microscopes. The remote control room is on the second floor and has daylight.
Cubotron is old and rusty, but functional
Construction started nearly overnight. A first wall is already standing.
Plans to place three 300kV instruments into a large 7-meter tall room were cut short from...
terrible news: There is a tunnel just north of Cubotron in the ground that has high-power cables running, including a DC cable.

This is the worst case scenario for somebody trying to set up an electron microscopy suite...
Stephan Käppeli from SYSTRON AG (Zürich) to the rescue.
Detailed measurements to quantify the electromagnetic field situation. As a result, the space near the high-voltage cables is avoided.
Cables are laid into the grounds and walls and ceiling for an active field cancellation system in all rooms to counter the fields.
The floors in all electron microscope rooms, as well as walls and ceiling become riddled with cables for the field cancellation systems.
A pair of Helmholtz coils is installed in X, Y and Z direction around the position, where the column of the electron microscope will be. These coils will be driven by an active cancellation system that reacts within a milisecond to any changes in EMI fields. This is installed by Systron.ch .
The remote control room.
cables are buried in the floor
The two Titan Krios of the DCI will be installed into these rooms.
The room for the water chillers is almost ready
This will be the sample preparation area
The water chiller room has flooring
The remote control room
Holes in the floor for installing the 19 (!) anchors for the first Titan Krios.
Batteries for the UPS for each electron microscope
SYSTRON AG installs the field cancellation systems
Transformers for galvanic separation of the electric supply from the electron microscopes
The 2Ton crane is useful.
