AFM

Basic information

Our group is involved in the study of the mechanical and dynamical properties of living organisms. More specifically, we use the atomic force microscope (AFM) to explore the elastic adhesive and oscillatory properties of yeast bacteria and mammalian cells. The aim of these studies is the development of rapid antibiotic, antifungal and anticancer sensitivity tests.

We also study single molecules using AFM and AFM combined with tunable IR pulsed laser. Here we illustrate these studies with the AFM images of the process of formation of insulin fibrils.
